Short-term faculty-Led MSU Study Abroad Programs
Many faculty and staff plan and implement their own Study Abroad programs.  These programs are created to target MSU students.  Check with the Office of Study Abroad to see what is offered for your program of study.

  • Anthropology 4990, The Anthropology of Conservation, Migration and Sustainability in Costa Rica. Studies will take place at the UN-Mandated University for Peace. May 10-June 1, 2010. Eligible Students: Upper-level (Sophomore/ Junior/ Senior) students from any discipline. Previous experience in anthropology or related social sciences is preferred, but not required.   • Foreign Languages (Chinese) FLC 4990, Special Topic: Chinese Language. National Taipei University Summer Program in Chinese Language, Culture and Economics. Taipei, Taiwan. June 8-July 19, 2010. Eligible Students: All students welcome, but those with an interest in Mandarin Chinese are particularly encouraged to apply. Students who have not completed at least two semesters of Mandarin Chinese will be required to participate in an intensive Maymester review course. Center for Cooperative Study Abroad (CCSA)
“CCSA is a higher education consortium of 24 colleges and universities with member schools from Alabama, Indiana, Kentucky, Mississippi, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, South Dakota and Tennessee. CCSA is headquartered at Northern Kentucky University in Highland Heights, Kentucky. All undergraduate and graduate students in good standing are eligible to participate in any CCSA program. Regular or part-time students at CCSA member institutions must register for courses through their home institutions.”

Chuo University in Japan
Mississippi State University has an agreement with Chuo University in Japan, allowing MSU degree-seeking students to utilize federal financial aid for participation in Chuo University summer Japanese language programs if and when all appropriate financial aid procedures have been followed by the students.

French American Exchange Program (FAME)
FAME is a spring semester study abroad program, taught in English by professors at ENSEA, one of the top schools in electrical engineering in France. Electrical and/or computer engineering majors in their third year of study are eligible to apply. Courses with be taken at ENSEA in Cergy, France, 35 minutes form the center of Paris. Global Engineering Education Exchange
Global E3 is an international exchange program for engineering students. Global E3 offers students the opportunity to go abroad to universities in Europe, Latin America, Asia, and the Midde East. The program is designed to allow students to take courses overseas for credit at Mississippi State University while paying MSU tuition. Courses in English are available in Denmark, Finland, Germany, Hong Kong, Hungary, Japan, Singapore, South Korea, Sweden, Turkey and the United Kingdom. Students with knowledge of a foreign language may also study in Austria, Germany, Mexico, Spain, France, Italy, South Korea and Sweden.

Global Student Experience (GSE)
GSE offers summer, quarter, semester, and year-long study abroad programs in Europe, Australia, and South America. Expand your college education by studying in Barcelona, Granada, Madrid, Paris, Florence, Rome, London, Sydney, Guadalajara, and Buenos Aires.

INSA - Toulouse (Institut National des Sciences Appliquées of Toulouse)
Spring semester in Toulouse, France in aero-mechanics, electrical engineering, and bio-chemical engineering. The courses in engineering and history/culture are designed for U.S. students, but some courses are joint classes with INSA students. The courses are taught in English by French faculty. International Studies Abroad (ISA)

National Student Exchange Programs
The National Student Exchange provides MSU students the opportunity to study at other universities throughout the United States, Canada, Puerto Rico, Guam and the US Virgin Islands. Students are allowed to study for a summer, semester or academic year at any of the 200 participating universities. Quebec and Puerto Rico provide a cheap option for students (that are already conversant in French or Spanish) to study in a French or Spanish-speaking environment that is not far from home.

South-Eastern Conference (SEC) Study Abroad Programs
All SEC colleges and universities have an agreement that any student attending an SEC institution has the ability to participate in Study Abroad programs offered by other SEC schools. Program credit can easily be transferred to the student’s home institution as long as appropriate advising and accommodations have been made.  This agreement is especially helpful when specific programs are not offered through the student’s home institution.

Université Laval - Quebec, Canada
Up to three Mississippi State University students may take classes at Université Laval in Quebec, Canada each year. Students pay tuition as usual to Mississippi State University, but are not required to pay tuition to Université Laval. Students may take the following classes:
